Description
Basingstoke Camera Club presently consists of 40-50 people who have an interest in photography as a hobby, so the first thing we offer is a meeting place for folk with a common interest. Our membership comprises a mixture of male/female, young and old and with varying levels of experience and ability. We are fortunate to have some excellent photographers amongst our members, who are only too happy to pass on their knowledge and advise the less experienced, and to share their own experiences. We have some who only work in Black and White, others who only use slide film, or colour negative, others who have gone completely digital, and others again, who use a mixture of all these methods. Some specialise in travel photos, others natural history and others, portraits. You can see we are a complete cross section of the "photographic" world.
We meet each week, with our meetings being built around a framework of lectures and competitions, with a few purely social occasions thrown in - it is meant to be an enjoyable experience.
Our calendar includes both a slide league and a print league where members enter 3 slides/prints each and have them assessed and marked by an "expert" judge, usually from outside the club, but with plenty of experience in the field. Usually there is some excellent work on show.
We do not charge anything for you to come and take a look at what goes on, so please feel free to come along and see if what we offer appeals to you.
