Thank you for visiting my site.

You can quickly and simply get to see my pictures by using the links to the left but if you have a little more time below is a brief outline of my background and my general approach to photography.
You will find throughout the site that as well as showing examples of my work, I have tried to explain some of the thinking behind what I do. You can also get more information and larger images of many of the photographs by clicking on the square thumbnail versions.

I believe that high quality photography can be produced without creating a drama at the same time. Over the years I have gained the experience and confidence to be able to work at the highest levels without having to hide behind a smoke screen of technical jargon or artistic temperament.

Born in Frithville (a small village in the south of Lincolnshire) in 1956.

I started to take photographs when I was about 10. Even in those early days I was never happy to take "snaps". Unusual viewpoints and subjects always had more appeal.

My first commission was a shot of the school football team.

At 16 I left school to start a foundation course at Lincoln College of Art. The next year I enrolled on a 3 year graphic design and communication course. Much of my time during these years was spent in the photographic department.

Within weeks of leaving college I had my first full time employment at Lincoln Photographic. This was mainly darkroom work but it gave me a good insight into the real world of commercial photography.

Early in 1978, at the age of 21, I had an introduction through a photographic careers agency to Colin Taylor Productions (one of the country's leading motorsport picture agencies) and I moved to Kent.

Over the following years I did hundreds of commissions as a freelance for CTP and travelled very widely, including regular coverage of World Rally Championship events.

I am now, once again, based in my old home town of Lincoln. Although thought by some to be "off the beaten track" Lincoln is, in fact, well placed to cover locations over a large section of the UK: London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle are all within 2 1/2 hours drive. I don't generally make any charge for travel and I am happy to quote for assignments wherever they may be.
