The Farne Islands


farne-islands.jpg The Farne Islands are a group of islands situated off the coast of Northumberland, and at any one time there are 15 to 20 islands visible depending on the tide. They are in two groups and a great place to photograph.

Many of the small islands are bare rock, but the larger islands have a layer of clay subsoil and peat soil supporting vegetation.
